How to Beat Procrastination for Busy People

mindset & mindfulness Aug 21, 2022

I am too busy. Can't put anything else on my plate.  Maybe after…

Do these words sound familiar to you?

Today's message is about how to get ahead and beat procrastination so we have time.

How many times do we postpone something that is important to us? How long do we procrastinate?

For some of us, years.

Relationships, health, business. What is your story?

We say 'later, after'. We procrastine. Then one day we realize we simply cannot continue putting it off; we have to change something

And even then, do we take an action or just think and talk about it?

And when we take an action, how do we know it it's the right one?

In the recent live in our Friends in Health group, I shared three tips on how to get ahead and beat procrastination. Allow me to share this framework for you here. If you know you want more tips on effective time management, join our Club and register for the upcoming training on Saturday, August 27th.

Three Steps on How to Get Ahead

Step 1. What are the tree major areas you want to focus on by the end of this year?

Once you are clear, write your goals: end of this year (4 months), 2 months,  1 month, week goals, upping week daily goals.

Step 2. Strategize your upcoming week's daily goals.

I am not talking about your to-do list.

We tend to drown in a never-ending to-do list while leaving the main thing for later. This is where procrastination thrives.

Instead, write down the main focus of the day. The one that is a needle mover. The one that reflects one of your main areas of life. Schedule it into your daily calendar.

Step 3. Start each day by focusing on that main thing.

Brendon Burchard says, keep the main thing the main thing. When the time comes, count 5-4-3-2-1, and immediately move into action. Stay in action until the time is up.

When the time is up, announce to yourself you are complete for this time and notice how rewarding it feels.

And if the day is almost over and you only did this one thing but it was your main thing, the day still feels filled with accomplishment because you moved the needle forward.

Friends, that is how we get ahead in life. Focus on your main areas, schedule them into your calendar and keep the main thing the main thing.
