Today's message is about time and urgency.
How long have you been in business? That is a question I get all the time.
My answer is a little more complicated than "2 years".
Coaching by Nadya was formed 2 years ago. I started my personal and professional wellness journey on April 9, 2009. My degrees are in teaching and psychology. I worked as a psychologist when I graduated from college. I was 17. The first personal development book I ever picked up was "How to talk to anyone" by Dale Carnegie. I was 11.
How long have I been in this industry? My answer, as long as I can remember.
In a recent conversation in our newly born book club, we talked about, what does it take for one to make a dramatic change or strong commitment? Many books, when one starts reading, depict a life-death situation that eventually leads the author to write the book. But so many of us haven't experienced a drastic life situation that catalyzes change in our life.
Here's the question we posed. For an ordinary person, what does it take to make a decision and a commitment to change? And just as important to not give up in the process?
Covid did make many of us re-evaluate and make changes. But, right now, why are some of us feeling slow about moving forward to rebuild our health and happiness?
I started thinking about my life. After a few moments, I shared the following.
We don't have to have a life or death situation to make a significant change in life.
I offer you these three steps:
Step 1. Imagine 5 years from now. You feel pain. There is either the pain of regret or a sigh of relief as pain is transformed into the excitement of challenge. Which do you choose?
Step 2. Create urgency. There is no life or death urgency to change. You must create your own urgency. I do it this way: I set my own deadlines and ask for support. In recent weeks I have been asked how I am doing. Most of you know I have been going through my own life transition, meanwhile being of service to others in my business. Why don't I get burned out? Because I have my own stress management system in place, I have support, and I am focused like a laser on my goals. I am doing OK.
Step 3. Have your systems in place and do the thing. Do it together. Ask for help. Keep going. Build your resilience along the way. You will be strong and focus on gratitude.
I have been in wellness all my life, but for years I was just feeling the pain of regret. Not being enough. Not growing. Not knowing. Not a lot of things I wanted to be. In 2020, I made a decision and filed for Coaching by Nadya, LLC. I committed, I hired a coach and today I am grateful for the challenge of change and grateful for living my dream career.
Friends, please please please do not wait for a life-death kick-in-the-butt situation to change!!!
If you know you just must do it, create urgency, ask for help and just do it.
Five years from now you will breathe a sigh of relief, remembering the pain of transition and being thankful for not taking the path of the pain of regret.
Let's do it! It's worth it! The world needs us healthy and happy!
Yours, Nadya
