What is Functional Fitness?
Seven primary functional moves:
Squats | Lunges | Push | Pull | Bent | Twists | Gait: walking, running
In our Functional Fitness classes,
we focus on incorporating these seven primary moves while integrating as many muscle groups as possible as well as switching planes of motion (direction).
This approach helps build robust body awareness and physical strength.
Why is functional training so important?

Increases the ease of everyday movement
-
Can be low impact; therefore, most of us can do it
-
Increases flexibility, coordination, balance & posture
-

-
Helps reduce the risk of Injury
-
A great way to build muscle
-
Helps lose weight
-
Helps to build confidence and body awareness in daily activities
BUT WAIT! There is more!
We also unlock your full potential with corrective exercise tools, understanding your body's unique biomechanics to fix imbalances and enhance every movement, from workouts to daily life.
This means smoother, stronger, and pain-free living, with increased flexibility, activation, stability, coordination, and recovery. Get ready to move with confidence and conquer those fitness goals!
"To me, honestly, this is non-negotiable!
I can't say it enough, working out is not about lifting weights, taking classes, or walking. You also have to know how to move your body properly to prevent injuries and build strength and confidence in daily life.
Our functional movement classes teach you how to move properly, keep your form, and teach your body to re-align so you can build strength, balance, and confidence in your body.
I am the teacher and the participant too. This IS my fitness routine! "

I entered in the session with pain but followed the exercises and left the session feeling no pain! "Had an awesome low- impact workout today with Nadya. They are predicting snow tomorrow here in Maine and the barometric pressure has dropped today. When this happens my arthritis kicks up a notch and gives me pain and stiffness. However I made a promise to myself I work out everyday with some kind of movement. Tuned in for a challenging low impact aerobic workout with Nadya. I entered in the session with pain but followed the exercises and left the session feeling no pain! Still in no pain 2 hours later! Now that is a win!"
